About me
I am a curious artist. I like to play with colour, materials and ideas. A self confessed bower bird, I seek and find creative potential in everything around me.
Born in Sydney, Australia (Gadigal country) to a family of musicians and creatives, I grew up in a record store with my mother teaching music out the back. My earliest visual and aural memories relate to the imagery from the covers hiding those round black discs and the miraculous sounds elicited from the scratchy needle on their surface.
My art practice is definitely influenced by this experience and I combine techniques of painting, printmaking, collage, poetry and photography in my artworks. Collage is my current obsession because I find it so accessible and expressive. I enjoy the ability to assemble, construct, dismember, deconstruct and reorganise imagery as part of my creative process in telling a story. My parallel career in social and cultural planning and international development fuels my desire to make art that is ‘place based’ – art that contributes to a conversation about the world. Telling a story is important to me, I am driven to witness the world around me and honor the world before me.
